the house purchase

Posted in [3] post wedding tagged , , , at 4:32 pm by literarymistress

We have purchased our very own first property! Absolute jaw-dropping, lip-smacking coolness, ya? Believe me, I was stupefied too when GloomGroom revealed this wonderful news one day. This, coming from a man whom had to be cajoled into confirming the engagement and wedding dates. All by his disorganized I-cannot-be-bothered self, he has secretly applied for a built-to-order Punggol Spring flat.

Sitting amidst lush greenery, Punggol Spring comprises 494 four-room flats which honestly, are designed to look like luxury condominiums – but nevertheless, we are thrilled to bits! This HDB enclave is within close vicinity to amenities such as Damai and Oasis LRT Stations, Punggol Secondary School and Punggol Plaza. There are also promises of gastronomical dining and waterfront retail experiences.

Our flat will only be ready in 2012 and we will only know the status of our application this April (on which we will select an apartment of our choice), but we are, nevertheless, done with our home furnishing plans (“,)

Did I mention that our bedroom comes with a balcony which overlooks a grand view of lush greenery? Well, it does; we will grab one come April!

the proposal

Posted in [1] pre wedding tagged , , , , , at 6:09 pm by literarymistress

No bending-on-one-knee-in-front-of-an-audience proposals, we agreed, just a simple (malay, traditional) engagement ceremony of ring-exchange witnessed by few family members.

I figured that my perfect proposal fantasy (while snuggling on a hammock hung from two palm trees on the Palawan of Philippines, gloomgroom would hold a Tiffany & Co’s Lucida ring up against the stars and somehow a quartet would surface and play Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to The Moon”…) would just remain a fantasy… so why bother? GloomGroom nodded in agreement. Or so I thought.

18th Feb 2008 saw us on yet-another-monthly-hot date, indulging on a romantic getaway and dining experience on board a cable car.
Soon, we were wolfing down (because chewing and swallowing without tasting were easier) “delicious continental delights” and “enjoying the scenic landscape of the city and harbour”. When I turned around to ask GloomGroom how the Sentosa Integrated Resort construction site constituted a “scenic landscape of the city and harbour”, he took my finger and slid an over-sized three-stoned Soo Kee diamond ring on it. He held my ringed finger against the twinkling stars and sang Sinatra’s golden oldie…

the one

i know you are the one… not because you created hearts out of my pancakes; not because you put one hand over my ears and the other over my eyes leaving just enough gap with your fingers for me to peek at the scary scenes on the screen; not because you got me my betty & veronicas whenever you got your archies; not because you held me as i wept with simba for mufasa for the 13th time; not because you smiled and said “i know” i lost your sapphire earrings… i know you are the one because i see neither reason nor sign that says you aren’t. – love, aida
